PRENT Community Development Initiatives was founded in May 2012 as a Community Development Initiative in Masaka district by a team of
young professionals who had a concerted passion to join hands and address the specific community challenges with sustainable solutions and hence
the “sustainable livelihood and holistic development “concept pivoted specifically to the Youths and women addressing majorly poverty, unemployment,
Domestic Violence, Addictions, Sanitation and Hygiene, HIV/AIDS, and Human Rights abuse, among others with a participatory approach through research,
advocacy,empowerment and Networking to restore the worth of the people in the communities and hence a trickle-down effect to the nation and export the
impact, so far registered in Mukono-PRENT/422,with the Community Development Offices.
Who we are
Introduction
According to the baseline survey carried out in Mukono Central in September 2013(PRENT survey-2013), It was discovered that 85% of young women in the sample villages of Bugujju,Nabuti,Kirowooza,and Kauga among others were surviving in adverse poverty and living in small rental houses with or without their husbands, high records of dysfunctional families with domestic violence incidences, but also high records of single parenting which proved a great threat to their sustainable development as the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) suggest.
And from this background, PRENT tailored varied and dependable interventions instantly to curb these challenges which are evident, or often continue un-attended to through the women empowerment project that is continuing with a team of 30 women and so far great success stories are recorded through civic education, sustainable agriculture, Business training (crafts making and catering), health awareness, and counseling among others
Upon such a note, several Projects have been birthed by the many vastly skilled women in the team which is being empowered and it’s a golden idea that is anticipated to help them improve their livelihoods ,address the challenges they encounter and then also meet the MDG’s.
